was my sweet girl last year on valentine’s day in taiwan at the orphanage. We didn’t get to travel until late march….but received pictures of our sweet baby during our wait. It was agonizing to not be able to hold her and squeeze her. see that little blue pillow in her bed? we actually sent that to her when we received her referral in October–it has a picture of dh and I on the front and when we traveled to bring her home we brought the pillow home with us, too. So, it’s now in her crib at home—just a little piece of our love and so many memories. Our hearts are also linked with this orphanage as we hope to travel early next year for baby #2 and maybe even #3–(as we would LOVE twins!)

but, now she has almost been home a year–and it has been one of the BEST years of my life. dh and i had shared the heart and desire to adopt from taiwan and gracen is such a delight and blessing from the Lord! I absolutely LOVE being a mom and waited for years to finally be one….I am truly blessed and love that I am able to spend my days and moments and life with her….

this is a book i made right before we traveled to Taiwan to bring home our sweet baby girl. I was inspired by Ali Edwards and all her travel books–so decided to give it a try. I made the covers and put paper inside and traveled with one stamp, marker, stamp pad, and stapler…and then tried to journal and add memorabilia from our journey.
so, it is stuffed with anticipation, airline tickets, heartfelt thoughts, brochures, taxi info, subway stubs, and lots of LOVE.
Gracen is one of the biggest blessings in my life….and an answer to so many prayers.

i like to paint with watercolors or acrylics mostly…..I love to do nature studies and need to start doing it more. When I taught kindergarten, I had a blast teaching my students how to paint and how to do nature studies.

I don’t like how the yellow has such a ‘glare’ to it in the first photo–I tried to burn it some…but, I just couldn’t get it quite the way I wanted it—so, I played with different filters instead.

ETA: Picture #3—just added this picture–SOOC it had a MAJOR blue tint—had to play with levels and the level dropper to try to get the whites white. Not very experienced with this but tried—what do you think???

nothing too great—but, when i saw this big green machine on the road–i thought I could have fun color popping the bright green. So, the first pic is with a color pop, second is just with normal workflow method…..Looking forward to a new theme this week!

here are some shots from when we were in Taipei. There are millions of mopeds everywhere. These were very common shots….TONS of mopeds lined up and lots of people.
Used some color pops and sharpened for web. These were taken awhile ago before I had my digital slr—can’t wait to go back with my camera next time…..tfl!

took this picture yesterday from my car as I was ‘driving’ up to the window. So, this counts as ‘road stuff’ don’t you think?? anyway… i was inspired from barb’s blog yesterday to play with different techniques and here’s one of my tries at it….

well, i know this week is “road stuff”–am hoping to post something on theme tomorrow….but, since I have taken a few days off—here’s some shots from Friday. I love dd’s expression in the first picture–the wrinkled brow as if to say “another picture mom???!”

also adding a ‘water picture’ that I finally got around to doing. This took me longer than I thought to get a shot half-way decent. I was really inspired by all your water photos…need to work on those…:) TFL It was hard to get the focus on the water drop and not the top of the faucet….any tips for doing that????? i would have liked the droplet to be more in focus….

i love our little, old, rugged radio flyer wagon that sits on our front porch. This week is supposed to be an object with five different angles—and this is my first post that I actually did that. I did use an ez action—vivid color pop (thanks to steffie for the link) And converted one to sepia and one bw.
i had to work with the sun/shadows b/c my dd is down for her nap and this was my chance to go out and snap some photos….so, anyways…..here they are!

Thanks for all your sweet comments on my valentine that I posted yesterday btw….!

And can I just say that I am consumed about thinking and HOPING that I really get that ‘free’ Photshop CS2 in the mail????? So hoping they honor our orders…..:)
